Be Still

Be Still

When struggling, hopelessly caught

In the swirling whirlpool of life,

Twisting and turning

Tumbled by turbulent waters–

Take a deep breath and listen!

Hear  God’s   sweet   silent   voice:

“Be  still  my  child,

be  still.”

When all around screams chaos,

Jangled nerves pleading for reprieve,

Pushing and pulling

Myriad demands dividing–

Take a deep breath and listen!

Hear  God’s   sweet   silent   voice:

“Be  still  my  child,

 be  still.”

When all broods dark and gloomy,

Dampened by bleakness and despair,

Wailing and weeping

Grieved by burdens, gravely you plod–

Take a deep breath and listen!

Hear  God’s   sweet   silent   voice:

“Be  still  and  know

 that

I

 am

 God.”

After raising a family and then teaching for over 20 years, I retired from full-time work. Now I spend time with family, tap dance, take long walks in nature, read, and write. I have published two stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul books and over a dozen devotions. My current goal is to publish a book of meditations over the gospels and to share my devotional writing on my blog. I hope you enjoy and are inspired.
